For the first time in a number of years I left Greenbelt early on the Tuesday morning. In a way I was avoiding the get-out, avoiding staying on site for hours as the racecourse is put back together, avoiding the awkward and painful loneliness of saying goodbye and driving off site alone.

The original plan was to spend the next few days walking down the Severn Estuary, but after last week I'm back in Carmarthenshire to do a bit of clearing up of my own - I want to finish the walking I'd intended to do back then.

This walk covers pretty much the entire length of the Millennium Coastal Park, so the paths were good and easy.

Part-way along I saw a familiar sight on the horizon - the blue and green loos we use at Greenbelt. At the Festival Fields, another event was clearing up, their Heras fencing half down with only the support blocks remaining, looking like a line of discarded railway sleepers.

I made Gowerton in good time for the train back, so that's the west end of the intended walking done. Now I just need to plug the gap between Pendine and Carmarthen.
