I think today was the furthest I've walked so far in a single day. I was keen to make up for the curtailment of last Saturday's walk. I more than did so.

Happisburgh has a beautiful traditional red and white striped lighthouse. But the lighthouse doesn't appear in the photograph of Happisburgh I have. Deep in Grandad's photo collection I found this one of him playing chess with three of Dad's sisters.

After a few holiday villages, the coast is briefly blighted by a gas distribution plant (termination point of a pipeline from Zeebrugge) before hosting the small town of Mundesley.

I can wholeheartedly recommend taking lunch in one of the seaside pubs in Mundesley. I wasted a good two hours sitting outside staring down at the beach contemplating whether or not to walk on during the afternoon. The choices were to give up, to walk along the B1159 atop the cliffs, or to try and make it round along the beach.

I continued on the beach as far as Overstrand, before climbing up to the Paston Way across the golf links to Cromer.
