Getting out of bed this morning was about as painful as shuffling into bed last night. Not a good sign. It was clear I'd not be walking the entire next stage today, but equally I wanted to get out ... this week was about completing a walk after all, and giving up on day two wouldn't exactly contribute to that goal.

After a morning meandering round Nevern (where we had camped in the vicarage garden for our familiy holidays in '79 and '80), I made my way to Dinas Island. Determined to walk, a circuit of the headland seemed a sensible option: a circular walk, not too long, and it would contribute to the coast path.

There's nothing much to say about the walk; I remember this place from childhood, but it wasn't the most stunning day to be out.

Back at the car I eased my boots off and headed to the next youth hostel. All the hostels on the north coast are shut for the rest of the week, so I'm staying at the newly renovated Penycwm YHA. It's heaven! It's been open only a week or two so few people know about it. I'm the only resident, so it's like renting a house for a week. I could get used to this.
