Family phone conference

I've just got off the phone with my mum, my brother and one of my sisters. It's Mum's birthday next week and us 'children' have been organising a party for her. A phone conference seemed the natural way to get us all together. We use them all the time at work, so I didn't think twice.

Here's the odd thing: once we got over the initial awkwardness, the conversation flowed quite naturally. I'm left wondering, were we being slightly geeky, or was it an example of a geographically spread family using the tools of the time?

It's unlikely to become a regular occurrence, but you can imagine how it could; nine o'clock on the first Thursday: family conference.

I'll stop now; I'm starting to sound like a BT advert. Except BT only advertises conferencing to businesses. A missed opportunity, perhaps?
